Mountain Clock
This clock was made from a slice of a treetrunk left behind at Burr Oaks Woods after the conservation team did a rather extensive spring cleaning event in the forest in 2025. Like all our Cattywampus clocks, it's silent. The second hand has a contunous sweeping motion; it doesn't tick.
Details
- Approximately 8" diameter clock face; 12" tall
- Approximately 1" thick
- All-natural tung oil finish
Perfect for anyone who appreciates real wood with genuine character.
About the Wood
Osage Orange (also known as Hedge Apple)
- The Osage people (where the name comes from) used it for bows. Flexible + strong = perfect combo.
- The fruit smells citrusy and looks edible… but don’t. Not toxic to humans, but not edible (bitter, latex-y, regret-inducing). Squirrels nibble the seeds like they’re cracking a safe.
Nicknames: hedge apples, horse apples, monkey brains (accurate)
