Cattywampus workshop
about cattywampus woodworking

Handcrafted from locally reclaimed wood

Rather than forcing wood into uniform perfection, I try to work with wood's natural character.

Most of the material comes from locally fallen or reclaimed trees around Kansas City. Juniper, sycamore, ash, and other native woods each bring their own personality. Sometimes the most interesting pieces are the ones that look a little crooked or irregular — which is exactly what cattywampus means.

I’ll use wood most woodworkers wouldn’t give a second thought. Knots, checks, and anything that isn’t a structural concern become part of the story. Cathedral grain? Now we’re talking.

Each piece is cut, sanded, and finished individually. No assembly lines, no mass production — just small batches made in a home shop. That means every clock, board, or coaster is slightly different.

If you see something you like but want a different size or wood species, custom orders are always possible.
